In the second wave of operations targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Çağlar Türkmen, the bodyguard who turned off the hotel cameras before a meeting that Ekrem İmamoğlu was to have with individuals alleged to be "organization leaders" and "money handlers," was also captured.
A new operation has been launched in the corruption investigation against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. It has been reported that detention orders have been issued for 53 individuals, and 47 of them have been captured.
THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES
The corruption investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against suspects, including Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was suspended from his position as the Mayor of İBB after his arrest, is ongoing for charges of "being a leader of a criminal organization," "being a member of a criminal organization," "bribery," "extortion," "qualified fraud," "illegally obtaining personal data," and "manipulating a tender."
53 MORE SUSPECTS IN CUSTODY
Detention orders have also been issued for 53 more suspects within the scope of the investigation. Following this, teams from the Financial Crimes Investigation Department captured 47 suspects in operations conducted in Istanbul, Ankara, and Tekirdağ. Searches at the homes and workplaces of the suspects are ongoing. Efforts to capture 6 fugitives are continuing.
THE NAME THAT TAMPERED WITH THE CAMERAS WAS ALSO DETAINED
Within the scope of the investigation, footage has emerged showing that the cameras in the hotel where Ekrem İmamoğlu and other corruption suspects held a meeting were tampered with by security personnel before the meeting. In the footage, the security personnel, Çağlar Türkmen, who prevented the recording of İmamoğlu and individuals alleged to be 'money boxes' by tampering with the hotel security cameras, was also captured and taken into custody.
THE WIFE OF MURAT ONGUN IS ALSO IN CUSTODY
Among those detained are Cevdet Kaya, the brother of Dilek İmamoğlu, and Gözdem Ongun, the wife of the detained İBB Media AŞ Board Chairman Murat Ongun.
