Afghan nationals held in eastern Van province.

As many as 80 Afghan nationals who entered Turkey illegally were held Thursday in the eastern province of Van.

The detentions came after the provincial gendarmerie command noticed a crowd of people during a land search in a rural area near the Karahan neighborhood.

The migrants were transferred to the provincial migration office after routine procedures.

At least eight suspects have so far been arrested for human trafficking.
