A woman with a mental disability living in the Erdemli district of Mersin went to the hospital complaining of abdominal pain. She was urgently taken into surgery, where approximately 1 kilogram of various metal objects, including nails, construction rebar, a necklace, and a hairpin, were removed from her stomach.
A 1-kilogram metal object was removed from the stomach of a mentally disabled female patient in the Erdemli district of Mersin. A.K., a mentally disabled woman living in the district, presented to Erdemli State Hospital with complaints of abdominal pain. Tests conducted on the patient revealed that there were numerous metal objects in her stomach.
A 1-KILOGRAM METAL OBJECT WAS REMOVED FROM HER STOMACH
The patient was urgently operated on by general surgery specialist Dr. Can Terzier and his team, and approximately 1 kilogram of various metal objects such as nails, construction iron, necklaces, and hairpins were removed from her stomach.
"THEY SHOULD NEVER BE LEFT ALONE"
Dr. Terzier stated that the patient's surgery was successful, her health condition is currently stable, and she is being monitored after being transferred to the ward. He emphasized that patients with mental disabilities should never be left alone and urged their relatives to be sensitive about this issue.
