The U.S. Embassy in Ankara announced that individuals applying for a visa will be required to set the privacy settings on all their personal social media accounts to 'public' in order to facilitate the necessary reviews.

New regulations have been introduced for visa applications to be made from Turkey to the USA.

In a statement shared on the social media account of the US Embassy in Ankara, it was announced that the requirement for individuals to have their social media accounts set to "public" has been implemented, with the note, "Every visa decision is a national security decision."

The statement made by the embassy included the following: "Effective immediately, all applicants for F, M, or J non-immigrant visa applications will be required to set the privacy settings of all their personal social media accounts to 'public' in order to facilitate the necessary reviews to prove their identities and eligibility for admission to the United States."
