BODY FOUND IN A SUITCASE
The incident occurred in 2022 in Paris. Lola, who went missing while returning home from school, was not found during searches conducted in the basement of her apartment building, prompting police intervention. Later that same day, her lifeless body was discovered in a large black suitcase left on a street. Following the investigation, police arrested Dahbia Benkired, who lived in the apartment. Eyewitnesses reported that the young woman was seen carrying a suitcase around the apartment building on the day of the incident.
OPENED THE SUITCASE IN A BAR, FOOTAGE CAPTURED
Security camera footage presented during the court proceedings showed Benkired sitting at a table in a bar with a black suitcase shortly after the incident. The footage reveals the suspect slightly opening the suitcase and showing its contents to a man. According to the prosecution, the suspect injured the young girl after sexually abusing her, using scissors and a utility knife, and then wrapped her in tape and placed her in the suitcase.
APOLOGIZED TO THE FAMILY
Lola's family, who attended the final hearing of the trial, wore shirts with their daughter's photo and the words "You were the sun of our lives, you will be the star of our nights." The defendant, Dahbia Benkired, expressed her remorse in court, stating, "I apologize to the entire family. What I did was terrible, and I am very sorry."
VERDICT TO BE ANNOUNCED ON OCTOBER 24
The trial is expected to conclude on Friday, October 24. If found guilty, Dahbia Benkired could face life imprisonment for "raping and murdering a child with acts of torture and barbarity."
