Some companies within the Karataş Group, which has been among the tax champions of Gemlik for a long time, have declared bankruptcy by court order. While the 67-year-old company was unable to overcome its financial problems, the bankruptcy decision has been finalized for the companies that did not achieve a positive outcome from the concordat process.

The Bursa 1st Commercial Court made a critical decision in the case evaluating the concordat requests of 6 companies affiliated with the Karataş Group. The court rejected the concordat requests of Karataş Çelik Servis Merkezi Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., Karataş Demir Çelik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., Karataş Depolama ve Lojistik A.Ş., Karataş Makine İmalat Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., Karataş Panel Saç Sanayi ve Ticaret Ltd. Şti., and Karataş Sac ve Boru Turizm Sanayi Dış Ticaret A.Ş.
On the other hand, it ruled that the financial situations of Karataş Çelik Servis Merkezi Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. and Karataş Sac ve Boru Turizm Sanayi Dış Ticaret A.Ş. were at a "bankrupt" level, declaring the bankruptcy of these two companies as of October 15, 2025.
THE PROCEEDINGS WILL BE CARRIED OUT BY GEMLİK BANKRUPTCY DIRECTORATE
It was decided that the bankruptcy process would be conducted through a simple liquidation method, and it was stated that the proceedings would be carried out by the Gemlik Bankruptcy Directorate. It was concluded that the bankruptcy conditions had not been met for the other group companies.
Karataş Group, which operates in the iron-steel, logistics, and manufacturing sectors and has been among the leading companies in the industry for many years, had applied for concordat due to the financial bottleneck it experienced in 2024. However, the concordat process was not enough to save the company. The group companies were operating in production facilities with a closed area of 31,000 square meters in Gemlik.
IT WAS AMONG THE TAX RECORD HOLDERS
Karataş Group, which had long been among the tax record holders of Gemlik, had also made a name for itself in the "Those Who Add Value to the Economy" program organized by the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It was awarded the "Environmental Sector Leader" award for five consecutive years between 2018 and 2022.
