According to the latest information from AFAD, a 5.5 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Niksar district of Tokat. No negative reports have been received following the earthquake, which was also felt in Amasya, Sivas, and Samsun. Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi stated, "So far, there have been no reports of any negative situations," while in Niksar, the epicenter of the earthquake, all schools have been closed for one day.

FRIGHTENING EARTHQUAKE IN TOKAT
According to the latest information from AFAD, a 5.5 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Niksar district of Tokat. No negative reports have been received following the earthquake, which caused great panic in Amasya, Sivas, and Samsun. Citizens caught off guard in their sleep panicked and rushed out of their homes.
INTERIOR MINISTER ÇİFTÇİ'S STATEMENT
Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi shared on his social media account, "I extend my best wishes to all our citizens affected by the 5.5 magnitude earthquake that occurred in the Niksar district of our Tokat province at 03:35. So far, there have been no reports of any negative situations. Our teams are continuing the necessary scanning and assessment work in the field. May God protect our country and nation from all kinds of disasters," he stated.

In a statement made by the Tokat Governorate regarding the earthquake, it was said, "We extend our best wishes to our citizens affected by the 5.5 magnitude earthquake centered in Niksar, which was also felt in neighboring provinces. As of now, there is no negative situation. Developments are being closely monitored by our teams. May God protect our nation and homeland from all kinds of disasters."
A MAJOR EARTHQUAKE OCCURRED IN THE REGION IN 1942
Earthquake experts shared the information that Tokat is one of the 24 provinces through which a fault line passes. Experts reminded that a 7 magnitude earthquake occurred in 1942 on the North Anatolian Fault line that runs through the region, stating that this earthquake may have occurred on one of the branches of the main fault line. Considering the magnitude of the earthquake, experts indicated that it could cause damage and warned that especially damaged houses should not be entered due to the aftershocks that are expected to continue.
AFAD: NO NEGATIVE SITUATION
In a statement made by AFAD, it was stated, "As of now, there is no negative situation following the 5.5 magnitude earthquake that occurred in the Niksar district of our Tokat province at 03:35, which was also felt in our provinces of Samsun, Amasya, Ordu, and Sivas."
