A horrific incident occurred in Indonesia. A 57-year-old woman named Hapsah was attacked by a giant python while collecting latex sap from rubber trees on a plantation on August 27th.

The 5-meter-long snake rendered the woman unconscious and coiled around her body, suffocating her. It is believed that the snake was attempting to swallow her from the head.

M. Safri, the 66-year-old husband who also worked on the same plantation, went searching for his wife when she didn't return home. When he heard rustling from the bushes, he approached and was met with a horrifying sight: the python had coiled around his wife.

Police Chief Iptu Usaha Sitepu said, "The woman died from suffocation and the snake had started to swallow her from the head. Her husband tried to save her by pulling and hitting the snake's tail."

Angry villagers found and killed the snake. Village chief Amdi explained, "The snake had almost completely swallowed Hapsah, when her husband saved her, only half of her body was outside."

Safri, mourning his loss, expressed his sadness by saying, "I wish I had stayed there to protect my wife."

This incident is the second similar tragedy to occur in Indonesia in recent days. Previously, a 74-year-old grandmother named Maga was attacked by a python.

The reticulated python is known as the world's longest snake. This species, native to Southeast Asia, poses a danger to humans as they live in forests, swamps, and even cities.
