With the decision made by a majority vote in the TRNC, the gross minimum wage for the year 2026 has been set at 60,618 TL and the net minimum wage at 52,738 TL; the workers' side announced that they would appeal the decision. On the other hand, according to the statement made by the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, a support of 12,000 TL will be provided to minimum wage earners, with half of it paid in advance for 6 months.
The first net minimum wage for the year 2026 in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has been set at 52,738 TL. The Minimum Wage Determination Commission announced the new wage schedule after its third meeting held at the Meeting Hall of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security in Nicosia.
REPRESENTATIVES OF WORKERS AND EMPLOYERS ATTENDED THE MEETING
In addition to the Minister of Labor and Social Security of the TRNC, Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, the meeting was attended by Ahmet Serdaroğlu, President of the Free Trade Unions Federation (Hür-İş), representing the workers, and Cengiz Alp, a representative of the Turkish Cypriot Employers' Association, representing the employers.
HOURLY, DAILY, AND WEEKLY WAGES WERE ALSO ANNOUNCED
Minister Hasipoğlu stated that the decision on the minimum wage was determined by a majority vote and would be submitted to the Council of Ministers. Accordingly, the new schedule is; hourly 349.71 TL, daily 2,797.75 TL, weekly 13,988.76 TL, and monthly net 52,738 TL. The minimum wage, which was net 44,546 TL in the TRNC in 2025, has increased to net 52,738 TL with the new year.
ONLY FOR THOSE RECEIVING MINIMUM WAGE...
On the other hand, a total of 12,000 TL will be given in advance for 6 months to those who only receive minimum wage. In this context, it was noted that employees who are TRNC citizens and have their insurance premiums paid based on the minimum wage will receive a wage support of 6,000 TL in two installments in February and March, totaling 12,000 TL. In the ministry's statement, it was mentioned that "January salaries will total a net 58,738 TL in the hands of our employees."
