Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan had a phone conversation with his American counterpart Marco Rubio. The discussion addressed the issue of the ballistic missile that was launched from Iran and intercepted in Turkey.

CRITICAL MEETING BETWEEN FIDAN AND RUBIO
During the meeting, the latest situation in the region was evaluated. Additionally, the two ministers discussed the missile that was directed towards Turkish airspace and was neutralized.
"MISSILE NEUTRALIZED IN TIME"
On the other hand, the statement made by the Ministry of National Defense included the following expressions: "A ballistic ammunition, which was detected to have been fired from Iran and passed through the airspace of Iraq and Syria before heading towards Turkish airspace, was timely engaged and neutralized by NATO air and missile defense elements stationed in the Eastern Mediterranean."
"NO LOSS OF LIFE OR INJURY"
It has been determined that the piece of ammunition that fell in the Dörtyol district of Hatay province belonged to the air defense ammunition that was used to intercept the aforementioned threat after it was neutralized in the air. There is no loss of life or injury in the incident. Our determination and capacity to ensure the safety of our country and our citizens are at the highest level.
While Turkey stands for regional stability and peace, it is capable of ensuring the safety of its territory and citizens, regardless of who or where the threat comes from. Every step to defend our territory and airspace will be taken decisively and without hesitation. We remind that our right to respond to any hostile attitude towards our country is reserved. We urge all parties to refrain from steps that would further escalate conflicts in the region. In this context, we will continue to consult with NATO and our other allies.
