The project, with a total investment cost of 2 billion TL, will include not only a grandstand with a capacity of 17,500 spectators but also modern boxes, spacious and functional foyer areas, social facilities, sports halls, and all technical infrastructure elements that should be present in a modern stadium.
WILL ALSO HOST SOCIAL EVENTS
The stadium, which is planned to host not only sports competitions but also cultural and social events, will enhance Kahramanmaraş's sports capacity while also revitalizing the city's economic and social life once completed. The project, which aims to be a regional attraction center, will add a new brand value to the city.
Mayor Fırat Görgel, along with Governor Mükerrem Ünlüer, visited the construction site of the stadium to inspect the works on-site. Mayor Görgel and Governor Ünlüer received information about the project and the ongoing works from the Provincial Director of Youth and Sports, Yasin Özdemir.
‘IT WILL NOT JUST BE A STRUCTURE TO WATCH MATCHES’
Mayor Fırat Görgel stated, "We are experiencing the happiness of bringing to life a project that our Kahramanmaraş has been waiting for years. After the tender held on June 30, the contractor quickly mobilized to the site, and as of today, significant progress has been made in the foundation and infrastructure works. The rising of the load-bearing elements of the grandstand blocks is the most concrete indicator of how planned and strong the process is progressing. This stadium will not just be a structure to watch matches; it will contribute to our city with its boxes, spacious foyer areas, social facilities, and modern infrastructure. Our goal is to build a city where our youth engage more with sports, and Kahramanmaraş becomes a strong sports center in the region. I express my gratitude on behalf of my city to all those who have contributed, especially our esteemed President, our Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, our Minister of Youth and Sports, and everyone involved. Together, we will build another work that befits Kahramanmaraş and that we will be proud of," he said.
