While the investigation into the poisoning of the Bocek family in Fatih continues, a report from the Forensic Medicine Institution has emerged regarding the company's fumigation of another house on April 18 and the subsequent death of 3-year-old Karan Yazıcı two days later. The report stated that the child's death was caused by "pesticide poisoning."
A family from Germany, who arrived in Istanbul for tourism on November 9, 2025, and tragically lost their lives due to poisoning on November 13, 2025, is still under investigation regarding the deaths of mother Çiğdem Böcek (27), father Servet Böcek (38), 3-year-old Masal, and 6-year-old Kadir Muhammet Böcek.
THE SAME PEST CONTROL COMPANY IS INVOLVED IN KARAN'S DEATH INVESTIGATION
While the investigation is ongoing, it has been revealed that the pest control company responsible for the death of 3-year-old Karan Yazıcı in Şişli is the same company, 'DSS Pest Control,' that treated the hotel where the Böcek family stayed.
"THE CHILD'S DEATH OCCURRED AS A RESULT OF PESTICIDE APPLICATION"
The report from the Forensic Medicine Institution dated September 17, 2025, stated that Karan Yazıcı had no known illnesses, that pest control was conducted in their adjacent apartment on April 18, 2025, and that the parents and child began experiencing nausea and vomiting on April 19, 2025. They were hospitalized the next day, and while under observation and treatment, Karan's heart stopped, and he subsequently passed away. The report also noted that the child's death was caused by pesticide poisoning.
"I INFORMED MY NEIGHBOR, HE SAID HE WOULD STAY HOME"
Additionally, the statement of neighbor Feruza T., who had her home treated for pests, has come to light. In her statement, Feruza T. mentioned that there were bugs resembling woodlice in her home, saying, "I saw that the bugs bit my young child. I told my neighbor Gamze that I would have my home treated. I found a company called DSS Pest Control online. After that, I called the company and had my home treated. I asked the person who did the treatment if there were people living in the adjacent apartment, including children, and whether there would be any issues. He told me that I should stay out of the house for 2 days and that there would be no problems. Just in case, I informed my neighbor, and he said he would stay home."
"WHO KNOWS HOW MANY MORE FAMILIES HAVE SUFFERED"
Speaking at a courthouse regarding the matter, father Şahin Yazıcı stated that the report was released 2 months ago, saying, "Our only aim was that no one else would suffer when we filed a complaint. We lost our child. We filed a complaint to ensure that no one else would be harmed and that no one else would lose their child, but after the Böcek family's case, everyone took action."
Mother Gamze Özlem Yazıcı stated that her son had no problems on the day of the pest control but started to feel unwell and began vomiting that night. Yazıcı said, "We are talking about a 3-year-old child and a large family. Who knows how many more families have suffered."
"THE SAME COMPANY HAS KILLED ANOTHER FAMILY"
The family's lawyer Eylem Karaca stated, "When we looked at the forensic report that came 7 months later and was added to the case last week, we noticed something. The report confirmed that the death was caused by pesticide application. But the main thing that was noticed is that the report was written on September 17 and sent to the system on September 19. It was approved and made visible in the system exactly two months later, on November 13, which coincides with the date when the two children of the Böcek family died. In a 2-month gap, the same company killed another family. This is unacceptable. We expect the responsible parties for baby Karan Yazıcı's case to be punished, while the family also hopes that no one else will suffer the same fate," she expressed.
