WELCOMED WITH ENTHUSIASM IN THE DISTRICT Denizcan Uçar, a 23-year-old working in a butcher and kebab shop in the district, was welcomed with enthusiasm due to his achievements in the international arena. 'I DIDN'T NEGLECT MY TRAINING WHILE WORKING' The young athlete shared his success story with İhlas News Agency (IHA) reporter. Emphasizing that the secret to success is discipline, Uçar said, "I started arm wrestling in 2018 while doing sports after meeting our coach Zahit Emre Sönmez. I went through certain training sessions and with my coach's support, I participated in championships in 2019 and became the Turkish champion. That same year, I joined the national team. I have achieved many European and world championship titles in the youth category. Livestock, butchery, and kebab are our family's business, and I continued this. I have won European, world, and Turkish championships. We went through very tough training sessions, and there were times we got injured, but I succeeded. Discipline is very important. While working at our job, we also achieved results without neglecting our training. Thank God, this year I became the World 3rd in the seniors category. My goal is to become the world champion next year," he said.
'WORKING UNDER THESE CONDITIONS MAKES US PROUD' Competing on behalf of the Kozan Scouting Sports Club and previously holding European and World championships in the youth category, Uçar's achievement of becoming the World third in the seniors category for the first time this year brought joy to his family, club, and everyone around him.
Coach Zahit Emre Sönmez stated, "Denizcan made us all happy with his championship. He previously had a world championship in the youth category, and now he competed for the first time in the senior men's category and achieved the world third place. Working under these conditions makes us proud, and we continue to support him," he said. After returning from Bulgaria, Denizcan Uçar, who attended the championship celebration held in his neighborhood, promised his supporters that he would become the world champion next year.
