The powerful voice of arabesque music, Güllü (Gül Tut), who lost her life after falling from the balcony of her home in Yalova, was bid farewell on her final journey in Istanbul. However, the low attendance from the art world at the funeral was notable. Many famous figures chose to send wreaths instead of attending the ceremony. During the ceremony, her daughter Tuyan Ülkem fainted, and tears broke hearts.
The beloved name of Turkish arabesque music, Güllü (Gül Tut), passed away after falling from the balcony of her home in Yalova. The 52-year-old artist's funeral was held after the noon prayer at Sultan 1st Ahmet Mosque in Tuzla, where she was bid farewell with prayers.
FEW ATTENDEES FROM THE ART WORLD
Attending the funeral were Güllü's family and loved ones, as well as names from the art world such as Murat Kurşun, Cansever, Killa Hakan, Kobra Murat, and Yener Çevik. However, the expected crowd from the art community did not materialize.
Many famous names, including Mahsun Kırmızıgül, İbrahim Tatlıses, Seda Sayan, Simge Sağın, Berkay, İrem Derici, and Özgür Aras, sent wreaths instead of attending the ceremony in person. This situation sparked discussions of "ingratitude" in the art world.
DAUGHTER FAINTED
During the ceremony, tears flowed as Güllü's daughter fainted at her mother's coffin. The famous artist's body was carried by her loved ones and buried in Tuzla Cemetery.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Güllü had fallen from the terrace of her home on the 5th floor in the Çınarcık district of Yalova, leading to her death. In the official statement regarding the incident, it was reported that the artist fell from the window while she was at home with her daughter and her daughter's friend, and an investigation into "falling from a height" was initiated by the prosecutor's office.
