Colombian President Gustavo Petro stated at a pro-Palestine demonstration held in Times Square, New York, "What is happening in Gaza is literally genocide. It is time to form an army. We are ready."
A protest was held in Times Square, New York City, USA, in support of Palestine and against Israel. The protest was attended by Colombian President Gustavo Petro and famous musician Roger Waters, one of the founders of Pink Floyd.
"WHAT IS HAPPENING IN GAZA IS GENOCIDE"
Speaking at the square, Petro emphasized that what is happening in Gaza is "truly genocide," stating, "The aim is to annihilate the Palestinian people." He recalled that his proposals at the 80th United Nations (UN) General Assembly were blocked by the US veto, saying, "Where diplomacy has stalled, we need to move to a new phase."
"CRIMES ARE BEING COMMITTED LIKE THE NAZIS"
Petro stated that what is happening in Gaza is a crime against humanity, saying, "Today, a scene is unfolding similar to the genocide experienced by the Jews. This must be accounted for. People are increasingly responding strongly against genocide. We have no problem with the Israeli people or the Jews," he said.
A CALL FOR A STRONG INTERNATIONAL ARMY
Petro expressed that a strong army should be established with the participation of all countries for the protection of humanity and the liberation of Palestine. Addressing American soldiers, Petro called out, "Do not aim your missiles at humanity, do not bow to Trump, serve humanity."
"IF PALESTINE DISAPPEARS, HUMANITY WILL DISAPPEAR"
Petro emphasized that what is happening in Palestine is a common issue for all humanity, not just Arab countries, stating, "If Palestine disappears, humanity will also disappear." After the speeches, Petro was presented with a Palestinian keffiyeh, while some participants hugged the President to show their support.
US COUNTERACTION
The US government announced that the visa of Colombian President Gustavo Petro, who participated in the protest in support of Palestine and against Israel held in Times Square, New York, would be revoked. The US Department of State made a statement regarding Petro's visa status through the US-based social media platform X. The statement noted that Petro had "encouraged US soldiers to disobey orders and engage in violence," and reported that Petro's visa would be revoked due to his "reckless and provocative" actions.
