Yesterday, in a shopping mall in Pakistan, two people trying to escape the flames in a fire that has been ongoing for 18 hours lost their balance and fell to the ground from several meters high. So far, 6 people have died in the fire, including one firefighter, and 30 others have been injured. Authorities have stated that they are still unable to contact 58 individuals.
While the firefighting efforts continued for the fire that started yesterday around 10:00 PM local time at the Gul Plaza shopping mall in Karachi, Pakistan, a panic ensued in the mall.
THEY FELL TO THE GROUND FROM METERS HIGH WHILE ESCAPING THE FLAMES
Two people trying to escape the fire lost their balance and fell to the ground from meters high while descending the ladders set up on the air conditioning units on the building's facade. Those terrifying moments were captured on camera.
6 DEAD, 30 INJURED, 58 MISSING
So far, 6 people have lost their lives in the fire, including 1 firefighter, and 30 others have been injured. Authorities announced that they have not yet heard from 58 people. A part of the mall, which has approximately 1,200 stores, collapsed due to the fire.
CONTINUING FOR 18 HOURS
Pakistani media reported that the fire started in a flower shop and has not been extinguished for more than 18 hours. Fire Chief Muhammad Humayun stated that all shops and warehouses on the ground floor have been engulfed in flames, and he expressed that the search and rescue operations are quite risky due to a part of the building collapsing and the smoke accumulating inside.
