Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that Iran's attack on bases in Gulf countries in retaliation for the US-Israel attacks is wrong. Minister Fidan said, "Most Gulf countries have tried to avoid this war. Iran's attack on Gulf countries is a wrong strategy."
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made statements during a live broadcast on TRT. Referring to the conflicts between the US, Israel, and Iran, Minister Fidan emphasized that Tehran's retaliation against Gulf countries is wrong.
"GULF COUNTRIES TRIED TO AVOID THIS WAR"
Minister Fidan said: "Most of the Gulf countries tried to avoid this war. Iran's attack on the Gulf countries is a wrong strategy. We are going through very critical days for our region, especially. Over the past 20 years, there have been great pains and wars in the region, and the major war we are currently experiencing is the war with Iran. Of course, when we look at the effects of the war, it is not limited to Iran. As we predicted long ago, it is spreading throughout the entire region.
"AS IRAN IS ATTACKED, IT ATTACKS THE GULF"
We see that Iran is following a strategy here: At the moment it assesses a final attack against itself, it adopts the strategy of 'If I go, I will take the region with me' towards other countries in the region, especially energy infrastructures... Iran is very well aware of how important the energy infrastructures in critical countries in the region are for the world economy, for stability, and for energy security. It is carrying out attacks on these targets. As it is attacked, it tries to create a pressure element from here.
Now, of course, the question of how long the war will last and what will happen is a controversial issue, open to various assessments. What is important here is this; what are the goals of the attacking parties? What are they targeting? When you look at it, two main sets of objectives emerge. In the first set; there is a military professional assessment related to the elimination of Iran's military capabilities. There is a view that 'We will continue this operation until we achieve this goal.' On the other hand, there is a military operation perspective targeting a regime change.
"WE ARE WORKING TO PREVENT A SLIDE INTO WORSE"
Now, according to these two objectives, the duration of the war changes, and its shape also changes. The style of spread and the risks it will create also change; these two are very different concepts. Therefore, we are already working on how to prevent it from getting worse by coming together with certain countries to form a certain opinion."
