Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı announced that the 'Family Camp' event will be held simultaneously in all 81 provinces across Turkey on August 8, 2026, with the aim of strengthening families' connection with nature and fostering a love for nature and environmental awareness in children. The camps will feature activities such as nature walks, bird watching, and workshops.
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı stated that after last year's highly popular 'Father-Child Camp' event, the scope has been expanded this year and transformed into a 'Family Camp' format, emphasizing that this organization will enable families to spend time in nature within protected areas and experience various activities together.
“WE WANT OUR CHILDREN TO GET TO KNOW NATURE BY LIVING AND FEELING IT FIRSTHAND”
Pointing out that the event aims to provide families with an unforgettable nature experience while allowing children to get to know nature by living it and gain awareness about sustainable living, Yumaklı said, "We want our children, who are the guarantee of our future, to get to know nature not just from books or screens, but by living and feeling it firsthand. With this comprehensive event we will organize, our children will gain awareness about sustainable living, while families will escape the stress of city life and spend a peaceful day intertwined with nature."
OPPORTUNITY FOR TENT CAMPING OR DAY-TRIP PARTICIPATION
Minister Yumaklı reported that in the camp to be held under the coordination of the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks (DKMP), participants can join the activities either with tent accommodation or on a daily basis, according to their preferences.
Emphasizing that a rich array of activities has been planned depending on the suitability of the areas during the camp, Yumaklı provided information that the program will include many activities such as nature walks, nature workshops for children, bird watching, camp games, campfire activities, traditional children's games, and stargazing.
IT WILL BE ONE OF THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE FAMILY AND NATURE-THEMED ORGANIZATIONS
Noting that the 'Family Camp' will be one of the most comprehensive family and nature-themed organizations held in protected areas in Turkey, Yumaklı stated that the camp will be organized in protected areas across all four corners of Turkey.
Yumaklı conveyed that the Family Camp activities will take place in designated protected areas in 81 provinces, notably including Çubuk Karagöl Nature Park in Ankara, Şamlar Nature Park in Istanbul, Termessos National Park in Antalya, Abant Lake National Park in Bolu, and Marmaris National Park in Muğla.
Stating that separate quotas will be determined for each province, Minister Yumaklı noted that the application calendar and participation requirements will be shared with the public by the DKMP General Directorate in the coming days.
