A Chinese fan attempting to enter the home of Jungkook, a member of the South Korean K-pop group BTS who was discharged from mandatory military service yesterday, was taken into custody. According to a report by the BBC, the police made a statement regarding the incident that occurred around 11:30 PM local time the previous evening. The statement indicated that a woman in her 30s attempted to enter the home of BTS member Jungkook in the capital city of Seoul, who had completed his mandatory military service and was discharged on June 11. The woman, identified as a BTS fan who came to South Korea to see the singer, was taken into custody while trying to enter the house, and it was announced that she was subsequently arrested and legal proceedings were initiated against her.
It was reported that the woman in her 30s was seen entering random numbers into the coded lock on the outer door of the apartment where Jungkook lives. Police teams, acting on security camera footage and a tip-off, caught the woman trying to enter the building. During the police investigation, it was revealed that the woman had recently completed her mandatory military service and had flown to South Korea solely to see Jungkook. While it is still unclear how she obtained the address of the singer's home, it was reported that she was arrested for attempting to enter the residence without permission and that the detention process is ongoing.
Meanwhile, in June 2024, another member of BTS, Jin, who will be discharged, was approached by a Japanese woman at an event where he met with fans on June 13, 2024, who hugged him and kissed him on the cheek without his consent. In videos taken afterward, Jin appeared uncomfortable with the situation and turned his head away. The woman, who was reported to the authorities, was summoned for questioning on charges of "sexual assault." Jin and J-Hope, who are among the seven members of BTS who completed their mandatory military service, were discharged in 2024. RM and V completed their military service on June 10, while Jimin and Jungkook completed theirs on June 11. BTS member Suga is expected to be discharged on June 21. In South Korea, men without any physical issues are required to serve at least 18 months of mandatory military service.
