As a result of drilling activities conducted in the Lefke region of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, a new drinking water source with rich reserves has been discovered. The drinking water will soon be delivered to households within the boundaries of Lefke Municipality.

According to information obtained from officials of the TRNC Prime Ministry, within the framework of the country's future drinking water research, a new drinking water source with rich reserves has been accessed as a result of research and drilling activities conducted by the TRNC Geological and Mining Department around the Çamlıköy area in the Lefke region.

"QUANTITY NOT SPECIFIED"

Officials reported that the drinking water will soon be delivered to households within the borders of Lefke Municipality, stating that the reserve is rich but they will not specify the quantity at this time. They reminded that water had previously been found at the foothills of the Beşparmak Mountains as a result of drilling activities conducted by the TRNC Geological and Mining Department, noting that the source found in Lefke is new.

"MAY IT BE BENEFICIAL FOR THE LOCAL COMMUNITY"

Deputy Prime Minister Fikri Ataoğlu also stated, "I hope this work will be beneficial for the Lefke Municipality and the local community. I sincerely thank our Geological and Mining Department Director Ayşen Albayrak, our engineers, drillers, and technicians who contributed to this process. They carried out their duties with great diligence and dedication."

WATER USAGE WARNING ALSO ISSUED

Ataoğlu emphasized the importance of careful and prudent use of the TRNC's water resources, stating:

"Water is a vital blessing that each of us must protect with a sense of responsibility. Especially in this period when global climate change and drought risks are increasing, using our water efficiently is our greatest responsibility towards future generations."
