In Erzurum, Burak Arpacık turned the classic car passion he inherited from his father into a collection of 11 vehicles. While the collection's value is said to be 55-60 million TL, it also includes a 1968 Ford Mustang, of which there are only 2 in Turkey.
In the collection found at a factory on the Pasinler district road, there are 11 classic cars of different makes and models, ranging from 1959 models to 1978 models. The collection, which includes vehicles belonging to brands such as Mustang, Chevrolet, Mercedes and Buick, is said to have a total value of approximately 55-60 million TL.
In Arpacık's garage there are 11 classic cars in different colors and models. Among the vehicles, along with two-door, automatic and V8-engine models, there is a 1962 model Chevrolet Impala said to have been used as the official car of one of the former Adana members of parliament, as well as a 1968 model Ford Mustang said to have been produced 3,088 units in the world and to exist only 2 of in Turkey.
Arpacık, who has been interested in classic cars for about 10 years, tries to preserve the originality of the cars while collecting his vehicles over time. The value of classic cars is determined by the vehicle's rarity, originality, history and condition.
"THE PRICES OF THE VEHICLES ARE PRICELESS"
Stating that he has 11 classic vehicles in his garage, Burak Arpacık said, "These start from the '59 model and go up to the '78 model. We have the vehicles. Of course, since these are two-door, automatic and V8 engines, they are valuable vehicles in the classic world. Here, the interest in classic vehicles came to me from my father, that is, my father had an interest in classic cars before me. I took it over from him. Well, we look after our cars regularly with our own efforts. I have had an interest in classic vehicles for 10 years. In my opinion, the prices of the vehicles are priceless. After all, each of them has a different memory, a different story. But in general, if you ask about a price, almost all of them have a price of around 55-60 million. My favorite vehicle, I could say, is the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray."
"THERE ARE ONLY 2 IN TURKEY"
Erzurum Classic Cars Club President Mehmet Sadık Körükler, on the other hand, said, "We are in the garage of our group member, our brother Burak Arpacık. We have 11 different vehicles in the garage. They belong to 6 different brands. Models ranging between the years 1959 and 1978. 80 percent of our vehicles are two-door models. Two-door model vehicles are generally the sought-after quality in classics. Although our relatively pillarless vehicles are also valuable, two-door vehicles are generally at the top in classics. Here too there are vehicles with various features. For example, we have a vehicle that a member of parliament from Adana used as an official car in the past. In addition to that, we have a Ford Mustang vehicle, of which 3,088 units were produced in the world and of which there are currently only two in Turkey, and one of them is in this garage in Erzurum," he said.
