In Maltepe, the uncle of siblings Zeynep İnan and Ahmet Muhammed İnan, who lost their lives when the first 3 floors of a 7-story building collapsed, received their bodies from the Forensic Medicine Institute. Unable to hold back his tears, the uncle Tevfik İnan said, "Ahmet had big dreams. He had bought a new vehicle. God did not grant him the chance to ride in it."
The bodies of siblings Zeynep İnan and Ahmet Muhammed İnan, who were trapped under the rubble after the first three floors of a 7-story building collapsed in Maltepe, were taken from the Forensic Medicine Institute by their relatives.
"AHMET WAS MY EVERYTHING"
Ahmet Muhammed İnan's body was handed over to his uncle Tevfik İnan last night, and Zeynep İnan's body, whose autopsy was completed, was handed over in the morning. Unable to hold back his tears, uncle Tevfik İnan noted that his nephew Ahmet İnan had dreams, and said, "I am going to the Soğanlı Cemeteries Directorate. From there, there is the Maltepe Mimar Sinan Mosque; the funeral processions will set off from there. God willing, we will make it by noon. Then we will bury them. Ahmet had big dreams. Ahmet had bought a new vehicle. God did not grant him the chance to ride it. His mother and father had gone to their hometown. I received the news that the building had collapsed. Ahmet remained trapped under the rubble. Ahmet was my everything."
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
A collapse occurred in the first three floors of the 7-story building on Doğu Street in Cevizli Neighborhood, and fire brigade, AFAD, UMKE, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. While those trapped in the upper floors of the building that did not collapse were evacuated, a search and rescue operation was launched for 14 people under the rubble.
During the efforts, 9 people were rescued alive from the rubble, while a total of 5 people lost their lives, 1 in the hospital and 4 at the scene.
