The revolution that began with the end of Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria is causing notable changes within the PKK/YPG located in the eastern part of the country. THE SO-CALLED UNITS OF THE ORGANIZATION WANT TO JOIN THE SYRIAN STATEThe Deir ez-Zor So-Called Military Council announced that it has separated from the terrorist organization PKK/YPG to join the Syrian state. In videos shared on social media, many terrorists were seen making announcements under the flag of the Syrian National Army (SNA). After the intensifying clashes in Syria on November 27, terrorists who could not hold on in the Deir ez-Zor provincial center, which was handed over to them by regime forces, had launched a new attack on the city after being expelled by Arab tribes following the clashes. In the fire opened by PKK/YPG terrorists targeting civilians in the city center, 10 civilians lost their lives. THE IMPORTANCE OF DEIR EZ-ZORAfter the siege of Damascus and the collapse of the Assad regime, the groups that overthrew the regime and the tribal forces from Deir ez-Zor that acted in coordination with them expelled the PKK/YPG from the Deir ez-Zor provincial center, the Al-Bukamal and Mayadin districts along the Iraq-Syria border. In the region starting from the center of Deir ez-Zor and extending to the Al-Bukamal district near the Syria-Iraq border, Iran-backed groups were heavily present. While almost all of the Deir ez-Zor lands east of the Euphrates River were under the occupation of the US-backed terrorist organization PKK/YPG, the provincial center and other rural areas were under the control of the overthrown Bashar al-Assad regime and Iran-backed groups. The Iranian Revolutionary Guards were providing access to the interior of the country by continuing through the Al-Bukamal district in the supply corridor reaching Syria from Iraq.
