A witness named Mehmet Düzgüner spoke about the fire at a perfume filling facility in the Dilovası district of Kocaeli, where six people lost their lives. He stated that there had been complaints about the facility before. Düzgüner said, "There wasn't even a fire extinguisher here. The authorities say, 'there is a license here.' How can a license be granted to a chemical factory?" It was also claimed that workers at the facility had previously reported to CİMER in 2024, stating, "There is no occupational safety."

A fire broke out at a two-story perfume filling facility in the Mimar Sinan neighborhood of Dilovası district in Kocaeli at 09:00. The fire, which started for unknown reasons, quickly grew. The flames also spread to the roof of a building next to the workplace. Citizens reported the incident to the 112 Emergency Call Center.
6 PEOPLE DIED IN THE FIRE AT THE PERFUME WAREHOUSE Upon notification, fire, health, and police teams were dispatched to the scene. The teams, which arrived shortly, extinguished the fire. In the fire, 6 people lost their lives, while 7 others were injured.
"WOMEN AND CHILDREN WERE SCREAMING INSIDE THE FACTORY" Mehmet Düzgüner, who lives on the street where the burning cosmetics factory is located in Dilovası, Kocaeli, recounted the events. Düzgüner said, "It was around 09:00. I was awake; there was an explosion sound. I got up, looked down; a man was on fire. I went downstairs, took the hose from the garden. I extinguished the man, then I heard screams. When I looked towards the sound, children and women were screaming inside the factory. I wanted to intervene; I wanted to save them, but the flames were too big; I couldn't enter. We called the fire department; they arrived late. We heard people screaming helplessly," he said.
Witness Mehmet Düzgüner "THERE WERE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE FACTORY" Düzgüner, who stated that there had been complaints about the factory before, said, "There wasn't even a fire extinguisher here. This place has been operating for more than 4 years. The authorities say, 'there is a license here.' How can a chemical factory be given a license? I live here. We are 5 meters apart. I don't know how many people work there; I don't know exactly. They say, 'They are young'; most of them were women. There are also people from the neighborhood. May God give patience to their families," he said.
"WE COULDN'T ENTER, AND THEY COULDN'T ESCAPE" Düzgüner said, "After extinguishing the man, I realized the factory was on fire. Screams started rising from inside. People were screaming inside. It was not a situation where one could enter the factory; it was already a fireball. The only entrance-exit was here. There were explosions; there were also explosions inside. The man inside couldn't get out. The front of the door was not blocked by a vehicle; people couldn't escape because of the flames. People were screaming behind. It was impossible for them to get out. We couldn't enter either; they couldn't escape. This was the only entrance-exit. If the fire had been small, I would have tried to go in and do something. But since it was a very large fire, I wouldn't have been able to get out from inside. But watching people scream silently is a very bad thing," he said.
"WORKERS FILED A COMPLAINT TO CIMER" On the other hand, a striking claim came from Erkan Baş, the General President of the Workers' Party of Turkey. Baş stated that workers filed a complaint to CIMER in 2024, saying, "There is no occupational safety."
HERE ARE THE NAMES OF THE DECEASED The names of the individuals who lost their lives in the fire have been identified. It was learned that Şengül Yılmaz, Tuğba Taşdemir, Cansu Esetoğlu, Nisa Taşdemir, Esma Gigan, and Hanım Gülekin lost their lives in the fire.

FIREFIGHTERS FOUND THE BODIES OF 6 PEOPLE After extinguishing the fire, firefighters encountered the lifeless bodies of 6 people when they entered. The teams continue their work in the warehouse. Meanwhile, a person who emerged injured from the flames was also recorded on a mobile phone.
