The heavy rainfall that affected the megacity caused flooding at the Yenibosna station of the M9 Ataköy–Olimpiyat metro line. Due to water flowing from the ceiling and walls in the station, passengers had to open umbrellas inside the metro, just as they would on the street. At the station, where some escalators were out of service, staff worked hard with shovels to drain the water.

The heavy downpour affecting Istanbul has negatively impacted transportation in the city. Due to the intense rainfall, flooding occurred at the Yenibosna station of the M9 Ataköy–Olimpiyat metro line, which is operated by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB).

Water flowing from the ceiling and walls of the station quickly accumulated on the ground, turning the area into a virtual lake. Some escalators were taken out of service for safety reasons, and it was noteworthy that passengers had to open umbrellas inside the metro.

WATER DRIPPED FROM THE CEILINGS

In the moments captured on video, it was seen that the continuous flow of water from the ceilings left passengers in a difficult situation, with some citizens using their umbrellas to protect themselves from the dripping water.

After the flooding, metro staff began intensive work with squeegees to drain the accumulated water at the station. While the teams continued their intervention, it was noted that the effects of the rainfall on the line were ongoing.
