As the war between the US and Israel and Iran enters its 35th day, a striking claim has emerged from the Tehran front. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that an advanced US warplane was shot down south of Qeshm Island, located in the Persian Gulf in the south of the country.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that a U.S. warplane was targeted off the coast of Kish Island.

"BURIED IN THE DEPTHS OF THE PERSIAN GULF"

According to a statement from the Revolutionary Guards reported in local media, air defense systems intervened against "an advanced warplane belonging to the U.S. and Israel" south of Qeshm Island in the Persian Gulf. The statement indicated that the downed aircraft fell into the Persian Gulf, but no further details were provided.

The IRGC's statement included the following: "Following the 'false' claim by the U.S. President that the IRGC's air defense systems had been completely destroyed, a short time ago, an advanced enemy warplane was shot down by an air defense system belonging to the IRGC Navy south of Kish Island. This warplane, after being hit, fell in the area between Hengam Island and Kish Island, sinking into the depths of the Persian Gulf."

THE U.S. AND ISRAEL HAD PREVIOUSLY DENIED

Iran announced that it had downed a U.S. F-35 on March 19, an Israeli F-16 on March 21, and a U.S. F-15 warplane on March 22. The U.S. military claimed that the F-35 targeted by Iran made a "hard landing" at a base in one of the regional countries, while the F-15 completed its mission despite being targeted. Israel claimed that an F-16 was targeted in Iran but did not sustain damage.
