The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry updated the list of fraudulent food products as of October 24. Inspections conducted on dairy products revealed low fat content, vegetable oil, and gelatin in certain brands of cheese, butter, and yogurt. The ministry shared the names of the brands of these products with the public.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry continues its food inspections across 81 provinces. The ministry continues to share with the public the products and brands found to be non-compliant.
LISTS UPDATED
The lists of "Foods That Will Endanger Health" and "Imitation or Adulterated Foods" published on the ministry's official website "guvenilirgida.tarimorman.gov.tr" have been updated as of October 24. The new list particularly highlights the frauds in milk and dairy products.
MAJOR FRAUD IN DAIRY PRODUCTS
As a result of the ministry's laboratory tests, it was determined that starch and vegetable oil were used in cheeses, while gelatin was found in yogurts. While melting salt was detected in some types of cheese, it was revealed that many products had much lower fat values than those indicated on their labels.
BRANDS OF FRAUDULENT PRODUCTS REVEALED
The brands found to be fraudulent in the updated list by the ministry are as follows:
- Cheese: Anadolu Cihangir, Sayraç, Ertat, Sühabey, Bey&En, Yeşil Toros
- Butter: Peynircioğlu Gurme Yayla
- Yogurt: Bir Çınar
