The footage shows Kaptanoğlu trying to escape from his vehicle, which was stranded in the water, but he was unable to succeed and was swept away by the floodwaters while trying to hold onto trees.
144 KILOGRAMS OF RAINFALL IN 1.5 HOURS
In the heavy rainfall that occurred on October 23 in the Foça district, approximately 144 kilograms of rain fell per square meter in 1.5 hours, causing streams to overflow and flooding many homes and businesses in the district.
In the district where many vehicles were stranded, cars got caught on the barriers by the stream, and Bülent Kaptanoğlu, a retired banker who had come to the Bucak area to collect mushrooms, was swept away by the floodwaters after getting out of his vehicle.
Kaptanoğlu's lifeless body was found today, about 11 kilometers away from where he went missing, in the old Gediz riverbed of the Yenibağarası neighborhood, during the third day of the search efforts.
