A minibus driver in Izmir lost his life as a result of an armed attack.

In the district of Bornova in Izmir, minibus driver Doğukan Akgün was attacked by an armed person after dropping off his passengers at the last stop. Akgün was shot in the head and died at the scene. A comprehensive investigation has been launched to capture the assailant.

The incident occurred yesterday around 22:00 at the passenger minibus stop in Evka 3 neighborhood. Doğukan Akgün, who operates a passenger transportation service within the city, arrived at Evka 3 neighborhood, which is the final stop, with his minibus with license plate number 35 M 8569 from Alsancak neighborhood. After dropping off his passengers, Akgün was sitting in the driver's seat of the parked minibus when an unidentified person approached the vehicle and attacked him with a gun. Akgün collapsed onto the seat as he was hit by the bullets, while the assailant fled the scene with the weapon.



LOST HIS LIFE AT THE SCENE





Upon the notification made by other drivers at the stop to the 112 Emergency Call Center, police and medical teams were dispatched to the address. The police secured the crime scene, and during the medical examination, it was determined that Doğukan Akgün had lost his life. Shortly after, the Homicide Bureau affiliated with the Public Security Branch arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation into the incident. The police teams examined the security cameras in the vicinity and interviewed eyewitnesses. The crime scene investigation team also conducted research around the minibus. After the examination by the prosecutor, Akgün's body was taken to the morgue of İzmir Forensic Medicine Institute. The Homicide Bureau continues the investigation on a large scale to identify and apprehend the assailant.
