In a statement to CBS News, he said that on Monday, two armed individuals broke the prison door with a hammer to rescue him. Timmerman remarked, "I woke up to the sound of the door breaking. At first, I thought the guards were there and that the clashes could be more intense. However, when we went outside, there was no resistance; there was no real conflict." Although Timmerman is now free, he stated that he has not fully grasped his situation and is busy finding a place to stay every night.

Police officials in Missouri, USA, reported that the last contact with Timmerman was established on June 2.
