The regulation on the implementation of the Traffic Law, affecting millions of vehicle owners, has been completed. According to information obtained by Haberler.com Ankara Representative Şerife Güzel, while the new regulation ends discussions on in-vehicle sound systems, legal assurance has been provided for drivers who comply with the determined technical standards, and the conditions for imposing penalties have been clearly defined.
Significant regulations regarding in-vehicle audio systems have been made in the Highway Traffic Regulation prepared upon the directive of Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi.
According to the news by Haberler.com Ankara Representative Şerife Güzel; with the new regulation, technical standards for audio systems, which have long been a subject of debate among drivers, have been clearly defined for the first time. Thus, while aiming to prevent the information pollution experienced in practice, "music enjoyment" standards will be introduced for audio systems.
LIMITS SET FOR SUBWOOFER AND AMPLIFIER
With the regulation, it is permitted to have 1 subwoofer with a maximum of 45 Hz and 1 amplifier (amp) with a maximum of 300 watts in the trunk section of vehicles. This paves the way for vehicle owners to use high-quality audio systems while also clearly defining technical limits.
TWO CONDITIONS REQUIRED FOR SOUND PENALTY
With the new regulation, the application of penalties due to audio systems has also been tied to objective criteria. Accordingly, for action to be taken against a vehicle, the following conditions must be met together: the sound must disturb public peace and tranquility by spreading outside the vehicle, and this situation must be concretely recorded.
This regulation protects the rights of drivers who listen to music quietly in their vehicles while aiming to prevent arbitrary practices.
STANDARD AND FREEDOM APPROACH INSTEAD OF "BAN"
In the prepared regulation, the determination of standards was taken as a basis instead of a prohibitive approach. While drivers are given freedom within certain technical limits regarding in-vehicle audio systems, only uses that disturb public order will be subject to sanctions.
WILL COME INTO EFFECT AFTER PRESIDENTIAL APPROVAL
The prepared Traffic Law implementation regulation has been submitted for the approval of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Following the approval, the new rules regarding in-vehicle audio systems will officially start to be implemented with the regulation that will come into effect.
