In the Karabağlar district of İzmir, 2-year-old Samet E. was injured by a knife thrown randomly by a person with psychological issues. After the incident, the suspect was apprehended and an investigation was initiated.
Two-year-old Samet E., playing in a park in the Karabağlar district of İzmir, was lightly injured in the throat by a knife blow randomly swung by A.B. (30), who is reported to have psychological issues and is undergoing treatment. While the child's condition is stated to be good after being taken to the hospital, the suspect who fled the scene was caught by the police.
FAMILIES AND CHILDREN EXPERIENCED GREAT PANIC
The incident occurred around 5:00 PM in a park located on 4263 Street in the Yunus Emre neighborhood of the Karabağlar district. According to reports, A.B., who came to the park where children were playing and is known to be undergoing treatment for psychological issues, randomly swung the knife in his hand, causing panic and fear among families and children. The knife swung randomly by A.B. struck the throat area of Samet E., who was playing at that moment. As the child screamed in pain, the suspect distanced himself from the scene in response to the reactions of those nearby.
THE FLEEING SUSPECT WAS CAUGHT AND DETAINED
After the intervention of the medical teams who arrived at the address upon notification, the injured child was taken by ambulance to the Pediatric Emergency Unit of Ege University Medical Faculty Hospital. While it was learned that Samet E. was in good condition after treatment, the fleeing suspect was caught by police teams along with the weapon used in the crime and was detained.
An investigation has been launched regarding the incident.
