ÖZEL WAS ASKED ABOUT YAVAŞ'S 'RAG' STATEMENT
After the visit, Özel and Bakırhan held a joint press conference where a question regarding Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş made headlines. When asked about Yavaş's 'rag' statement, Özel replied, "The party's message on this issue is the message you heard from the mouth of the chairman."
WHAT DID YAVAŞ SAY?
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş made controversial statements during a speech at a rally held in front of the İBB headquarters in Saraçhane yesterday in support of İmamoğlu. Referring to the Nevruz celebrations in Şırnak, Yavaş said, "Yesterday, while flags that I consider to be rags were being waved somewhere in the East, police were handing out cotton candy to those going to that rally, and I do not find the intervention here appropriate. We expect the security forces to also offer cotton candy to the young people here."
