Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not get what he wanted from the White House. After a meeting with Netanyahu, who made an official visit to Washington, U.S. President Donald Trump stated, "Aside from my insistence on continuing talks with Iran and seeing whether an agreement can be reached, no definitive conclusion was reached."
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington DC, the capital of the United States. After the meeting held at the White House, which lasted about 2.5 hours, Trump made a statement regarding the meeting on his social media account.
"NO DEFINITE CONCLUSION WAS REACHED EXCEPT FOR MY insistence ON CONTINUING TALKS WITH IRAN"
Trump stated, "I just concluded my meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu and his team. It was a very good meeting, and the tremendous relationship between our countries continues. No definite conclusion was reached except for my insistence on continuing talks with Iran and seeing whether an agreement can be reached. I informed the Prime Minister that my preference is for an agreement to be reached. If not, we will have to see what the outcome will be," he said.
"I HOPE THEY WILL BE MORE REASONABLE THIS TIME"
Trump referred to the 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel last year, saying, "Iran was struck by the Midnight Hammer Operation when it last decided not to make an agreement. That did not yield a good result for them. I hope they will act more reasonably this time and be responsible," he stated.
"WE DISCUSSED THE WONDERFUL DEVELOPMENTS IN GAZA AND THE REGION"
The U.S. President also made a statement regarding the ceasefire agreement in effect between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip and the developments in the region, saying, "We discussed the wonderful developments in Gaza and the region. There is real peace in the Middle East."
NO PRESS CONFERENCE WAS HELD
On the other hand, the absence of a joint press conference after the nearly 3-hour meeting and Netanyahu's departure from the White House immediately after the meeting drew attention. Before heading to Washington, Netanyahu had stated that he would convey "Israel's views and principles" regarding the negotiation process between Iran and the U.S.
NETANYAHU'S HIDDEN AGENDA IS IRAN
Netanyahu has been one of the frequent visitors to the White House since Trump took office again. This meeting was recorded as the 7th contact between the two in the last 13 months. Netanyahu aimed to ensure that the discussions with Iran during his visit to the U.S., which was brought forward from next week, were not limited to the nuclear file. The Tel Aviv administration wanted to include Iran's ballistic missile program and its military influence in the region in the agreement.
SIGNED FOR GAZA PEACE COUNCIL MEMBERSHIP
Additionally, Netanyahu met with U.S. Secretary of State Rubio at the Blair House next to the White House before his meeting with Trump. According to posts made by the Israeli government's social media accounts, Netanyahu, Rubio, and their accompanying delegations held a meeting to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues. After the meeting, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu officially signed on behalf of his country for membership in the Gaza Peace Council.
NEGOTIATIONS BETWEEN IRAN AND THE U.S.
The nuclear talks between Iran and the U.S., which were interrupted after the attacks by Israel and the U.S. on Iran in June 2025, were resumed in Oman on February 6. Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ismail Bakayi stated regarding the talks with the U.S., "The negotiations in Muscat between Iran and the U.S. ended with the parties reaching an agreement to continue the talks." The negotiations took place during a period when tensions between Tehran and Washington were rising again, and Washington was increasing its military buildup against Tehran in the region.
