The President of Religious Affairs, Ali Erbaş, made striking statements regarding the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran in Diyarbakır. Erbaş said, "What will happen if the killer is identified? No matter how many years he serves in prison, will our pain be alleviated? Is there deterrence in the laws? You can give a thousand years of punishment if you want. The man says, 'I will serve my time; they will provide me with food and water anyway.' It needs to be deterrent; if it's death, then it should be death; if it's execution, then it should be execution."

The President of Religious Affairs, Ali Erbaş, regarding the murder of Narin Güran in Diyarbakır, stated, "The laws need to be deterrent. They killed our 8-year-old daughter. If the murderer is identified, what will happen? No matter how many years he spends in prison, will our pain be alleviated? Will we have a law that has a deterrent effect?"

ALI ERBAŞ'S STATEMENT ON "NARIN GÜRAN"

The President of Religious Affairs, Ali Erbaş, attended the 7th Ahi Brotherhood Symposium held at Ahi Evran University Ahi Evran Congress and Culture Center in Kırşehir. Erbaş made striking statements regarding the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran, whose lifeless body was found 19 days after she went missing in Diyarbakır. Erbaş stated that the murderers should be given the death penalty if necessary, saying: "Imam Ghazali says there are three ways to eliminate evils. The first is moral sanction. We need to educate our consciences. The Ahi organization is a school of moral education. The second is legal sanction. The laws need to be deterrent.

"IF IT'S DEATH, THEN DEATH; IF IT'S THE DEATH PENALTY, THEN THE DEATH PENALTY"

They killed our 8-year-old daughter. If the murderer is identified, what will happen? No matter how many years he spends in prison, will our pain be alleviated? You see what has happened to the 2-year-old baby. What murders are being committed. Is there deterrence in the laws? You can give a thousand years of punishment if you want. The man says, 'I will serve my time, as they will provide me with food and water.' It needs to be deterrent; if it's death, then death; if it's the death penalty, then the death penalty. The third is spiritual sanction. The awareness of the afterlife."

WHAT HAPPENED?

On August 21, Narin Güran, who was going to a Quran course in the Tavşantepe neighborhood of the Bağlar district, did not return home after leaving, and her family searched for her on their own. When they could not find any results from the search, Narin's father, Arif Güran, reported his daughter missing around 8:00 PM on the same day. Following this, many search and rescue teams were dispatched to the area, and searches were conducted in the houses in the neighborhood and in vehicles entering the village.

While the search efforts were ongoing, Narin Güran's older brother, E.G. (18), was detained due to bite marks on his arm. In the examination at the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institution, since it could not be determined whether the bite marks belonged to Narin, E.G. was released.

Subsequently, Narin's uncle, who is also the headman of the rural Tavşantepe neighborhood, Salim Güran, was detained. It was determined that the DNA samples taken from his vehicle matched the DNA samples found on Narin's clothes, and Salim Güran was arrested for 'intentional killing' and 'deprivation of liberty.'

Teams, which had previously focused on the areas they were searching, conducted work in the Eğertutmaz Stream, located 2 kilometers away from the neighborhood, and Narin's lifeless body was found on the 19th day. It was determined that Narin had been thrown into the stream in a sack after being killed, and her body was covered with stones.
