At the graduation ceremony held at Boğaziçi University, Doruk Dörücü, who graduated from the sociology department with 'High Honors,' tore up his diploma. Doruk Dörücü, who stated, "I will receive my diploma not from the trustee, but from the elected rector of Boğaziçi," was taken into custody this morning during an operation.
At the graduation ceremony of Boğaziçi University, Doruk Dörücü protested the cancellation of İBB President and CHP's presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu's diploma. Dörücü tore his diploma, stating, "I will receive my diploma not from a trustee, but from Boğaziçi's elected rector."
After tearing his diploma, some parents reacted by saying, "We came for the graduation, not to listen to politics." Other parents supported Dörücü by applauding and saying, "You will listen to him, he graduated."
HE WAS DETAINED
Following the sharing of the footage on social media, Dörücü was detained. Güneş Gülaydın, the Deputy Group Chair of the CHP in the Üsküdar Municipal Council, announced the detention news on her social media account, stating:
"Our youth branch member Doruk Dörücü was detained at midnight. While countless injustices are happening in the country, we do not accept that young, bright individuals who raise their voices against these injustices are being hastily detained! We will not leave a single comrade in the hands of this oppressive mentality! There is no liberation alone; either we all stand together or none of us."
