SO WHAT IS THIS CULTURE?

Çankırı is one of our regions where traditional culture is maintained and preserved. Yaran is the most important symbol of Çankırı's traditional culture. It exhibits characteristics related to the Ahi culture. Yaran is nourished by two main sources: one is Turkish customs, that is, our old traditions and practices, and the other is Islamic beliefs. These are Ahi and futuvvet. We can say that Yaran Culture is the most beautiful example of the Turkish-Islamic synthesis. Hospitality, generosity, courage, heroism, bravery, helping one another, solidarity, unity, love, respect, avoiding behaviors that disrupt order, compassion, not being selfish, and humility are the main sources that nourish Yaran. These values are symbols of Turkish Culture. In this respect, Çankırı Yaran Culture has become a symbol of Turkish Culture. Therefore, we can say that Yaran is a symbol of National Culture.

Yaran is a true blend of cultural elements with aspects such as entertainment, relaxation, helping one another, education, social solidarity, fine arts, music, and literature. It is multi-dimensional. The Yaran tradition is maintained on a voluntary basis in Çankırı and its surroundings. It is a continuously organized community, uniquely structured, where members participate by their own wishes. Face-to-face, the Yaran members, who strive to meet their own needs and to sustain the tradition, facilitate the development of important human characteristics such as interest unity, socialization, and the reinforcement of beliefs.
