A teacher who took female students out of school during class hours and had them clean at her home in Izmir was detained for human trafficking. Photos showing cigarette and alcohol bottles in the environment where the students were present were also presented as evidence in the investigation file regarding the suspended teacher.

In the Bornova district of İzmir, a teacher who allegedly took female students out of school during class hours to work in cleaning jobs at her home has been suspended by the İzmir Governorship, which has initiated an administrative investigation. The İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has also detained the teacher as part of an investigation launched on charges of "human trafficking."

TOOK STUDENTS TO HER HOME DURING CLASS HOURS

According to the information obtained, the incident occurred on November 4, 2025, at a Vocational Training Center located in the Bornova district. Allegedly, D.T., a Turkish Language and Literature Teacher at the school, took six female students named Ş.A., E.K., D.D., A.Y., E.N.K., and N.K., all aged 16, out of the school during class hours without the knowledge of the school administration and parents. It was claimed that the students were taken to the teacher's newly moved-in house by a private vehicle from a point outside the view of security cameras.

TEACHER SUSPENDED

After the incident was reported in the media and on social media on January 8, 2026, the İzmir Governorship took action. In a statement made by the governorship, it was noted that an administrative investigation was initiated based on the allegations, and it was stated, "As part of the investigation, Turkish Language and Literature Teacher D.T. has been suspended, and a criminal complaint has been filed with the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against her."

DETAINED ON "HUMAN TRAFFICKING" CHARGES

As a result of the criminal complaint filed by the governorship and the initiated judicial process, the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation into the incident. By the order of the prosecutor's office, the teacher D.T., who is accused of taking students to her home and making them work in cleaning jobs, was detained by police teams on charges of "human trafficking."

ALLEGATION OF STUDENTS BEING IN AN ALCOHOLIC ENVIRONMENT IN THE FILE

According to the details included in the investigation file, it was stated that the students were made to work all day at the teacher's house carrying boxes, collecting items, and cleaning, and at the end of the day, they were not provided with food or transportation. It was learned that the students walked from the Bayraklı TOKİ area towards the City Hospital after finishing work and then returned home on their own. Additionally, in the parents' complaint letters, photos allegedly taken at the teacher's house showing cigarettes and alcohol bottles in the environment where the students were present were also presented as evidence.

The investigation related to the incident is ongoing.
