A U.S. Navy EA-18G Growler fighter jet crashed into the sea in San Diego. The two pilots on board the downed aircraft ejected with parachutes and escaped during the incident.
A military aircraft belonging to the U.S. Navy crashed into the sea in San Diego. As the moment of the accident was captured on camera, the footage shows the plane diving into the water at a very high speed.
PILOTS ESCAPED BY PARACHUTING
Officials stated that the two pilots on the downed aircraft escaped by parachuting at the moment of the accident, while a U.S. Navy spokesperson confirmed to ABC 10News that the aircraft was an E/A-18 G Growler.
RESCUED BY FISHERMEN
The spokesperson said that the aircraft crew safely ejected and was retrieved from the water. The U.S. Coast Guard reports that the pilots were rescued by good Samaritans on a fishing boat just one minute after they landed in the water.
Coast Guard officials reported that the pilots were later transferred to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection boat at the scene and subsequently taken to the hospital.
