Abdullah Avcı is taking over as the head coach of the Azerbaijan national team.

Finally, Abdullah Avcı, who last managed Trabzonspor, is set to take over Neftçi Baku. Azerbaijani officials held a meeting with the experienced coach in Istanbul.

Recently, Abdullah Avcı has been one of the important coaches in Turkish football and is preparing to open a new chapter in his career.

Having previously managed Trabzonspor, a team in the Süper Lig, Avcı is now associated with Neftçi Baku, one of the established teams in the Azerbaijan Premier League.

According to a special report by Hazal Palavar from ESH Sports; Azerbaijani officials came to Istanbul to hold a meeting with Abdullah Avcı.

If the discussions go positively, the experienced coach's new workplace will be "Gardaş."

ABDUALLAH AVCI'S SHORT CAREER

Abdullah Avcı was last in charge of Trabzonspor. During his tenure there, he led the team to the Süper Lig championship in the 2021-2022 season and also crowned his success with two Super Cup victories. However, after some negative results and an early end to the European adventure, he parted ways with Trabzonspor in August 2024.

Neftçi Baku is known as one of the most successful and established clubs in Azerbaijani football.

Founded in 1937, Neftçi holds the title of being the first Azerbaijani team to qualify for the UEFA Europa League group stage in 2012 and has been in search of a new head coach.
