A new development has occurred regarding the situation of the Rafah Border Crossing, which remains uncertain following the ceasefire agreement reached in Gaza. The border crossing will reopen on Monday, October 20, after two years. However, Israel will not allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza through this crossing. Only Palestinians from Egypt will be able to cross into Gaza via the border.
The ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Hamas has come into effect. However, the start of the ceasefire has not ended the deadly conditions in Gaza. While there is still a shortage of food, medicine, and medical supplies in the region, Palestinians continue to struggle with hunger.
THE NUMBER OF AID TRUCKS ENTERING GAZA IS LOW MID-AGREEMENT
According to the agreement, 600 trucks of humanitarian aid are supposed to enter the Gaza Strip every day. However, currently, this number is below 300. Insufficient aid is deepening the shortage of medicine in hospitals and the crisis of basic living supplies.
REFUGE BORDER GATE WILL REOPEN AFTER 2 YEARS
According to information reported by Reuters, the Rafah Border Crossing will reopen on Monday, October 20, after two years. Palestinians in Egypt will be able to enter Gaza through the Rafah Border Crossing. In a statement from the Palestinian Embassy in Egypt, it was said, "The Rafah Border Crossing will open on Monday. Palestinians in Egypt will be allowed to enter Gaza."
AIDS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PASS
However, it has been reported that the aid reaching Gaza will not pass through this gate, but rather through the Kerem Abu Salim (Kerem Shalom) Border Crossing located on Israel's border with Egypt. It was announced that the aid would be sent to the region after "security checks" conducted by Israel.
GAZA'S ONLY GATE TO THE WORLD
Rafah is the only border crossing of the Gaza Strip that opens to the outside world, apart from Israel. However, Israel continues to keep this border closed, citing "logistical reasons," which further complicates the survival struggle of millions of civilians in Gaza.
