ACCESS BLOCK TO SNAPCHAT FROM RUSSIA
In a statement from the Russian Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor), evaluations regarding the access issues experienced on Snapchat since October were shared. The statement claimed that "Snapchat is being used to organize and carry out terrorist activities in the country, recruit perpetrators, and commit fraud and other crimes against our citizens."
The statement noted that access to the application has been blocked for this reason. Roskomnadzor also blocked access to the FaceTime application today for the same reason, while access to social media platforms such as Facebook, X, TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram had previously been restricted in the country.
