It was reported to the Chief Public Prosecutor of Büyükçekmece that Erdal Timurtaş, the officer in charge of the Custody Office, had not been coming to work for a long time. Following this, the Chief Public Prosecutor, along with the officials, had the custody office room and the safes inside opened. As part of the investigation, the judicial custody officer Kemal D. was taken into custody and brought to the Büyükçekmece Justice Palace. The suspect was referred to the Duty Magistrate's Court for a request for arrest after his statement to the prosecutor.
DETAILS OF GAMBLING DEBT
The statement given by the suspect Kemal D. at the prosecutor's office has emerged. In his statement, the suspect said, "Erdal Timurtaş has gambling debts. He had a gambling habit as well. Erdal T. went on leave with a medical report but did not submit the report to the courthouse. Shortly before December 1, Erdal Timurtaş sent a message to our unit's employees' WhatsApp group saying, 'I have problems with my wife, do not call me' and left the group. After this situation, I tried to reach him, but his phone was off. I thought Erdal Timurtaş attempted suicide due to his gambling debt, and out of fear of this, I sent officers to his house. When I learned that the officers had arrived at his house, Erdal Timurtaş video-called me and said, 'I'm fine, don't worry.' Later, on December 1, Erdal Timurtaş sent a message to our WhatsApp group saying, 'I sold the house and belongings. Do not call me' and left the group," he said.
DENIED THE ALLEGATIONS
After the situation was reported, Kemal D. stated that a control was conducted at the judicial custody. "It was seen that the items were not there. I have been working in the judicial custody office for 14 years, and I have never experienced anything like this. I do not accept the allegations against me," he said.
ARRESTED
The suspect Kemal D., who was taken into custody regarding the incident, was referred to the courthouse after his procedures at the police station. The suspect Kemal D. was arrested by the court he was brought before and sent to prison.
