A bus carrying students returning from a graduation celebration in Colombia plunged off a cliff. In the horrific accident, 17 people, including the bus driver, lost their lives, while 20 others were injured.
Students from Antiqueno High School in Medellin, located in the Antioquia region of Colombia, attended an event in the town of Tolu in the Sucre region to celebrate their graduation.
BUS TUMBLES OFF A CLIFF
After the celebration, the students set off to return to Medellin. However, the school bus carrying the students tumbled off a cliff near the town of Remedios during the journey.
17 PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES
Antioquia Governor Andres Julian stated on his social media account that in the tragic accident, 1 bus driver and 16 students lost their lives, and 20 others were injured.
Julian reported that the lifeless bodies were brought to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Medellin via helicopter and that they are closely cooperating with the Mayor of Bello, Lorena Gonzalez.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE WAS HELD
In Bello, a memorial service was held as a symbol of unity and solidarity with candlelight for those who lost their lives and those who were injured in the accident.
