Prof. Dr. Naci Görür, evaluating the 4.5 magnitude earthquake that occurred this morning in the Saimbeyli district of Adana, stated, "This zone is left-lateral and strike-slip. It is approximately 40 km long and has a fault production capacity of up to 7."
According to the data from the AFAD Earthquake Department; a 4.5 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Saimbey district of Adana at 7:09 AM. The depth of the tremor was measured at 6.96 kilometers. Earthquake Expert Prof. Dr. Naci Görür made a concerning statement regarding the earthquake, which caused fear and panic among citizens.
"FAULT PRODUCTION CAPACITY UP TO 7"
Naci Görür stated in a post on his official social media account that the earthquake was in the Saimbey Fault Zone and has a fault production capacity of up to 7. Görür used the following expressions in his statement: "A 4.6 earthquake occurred in Adana, Yeniköy/Saimbeyli. The earthquake is in the Saimbeyli Fault Zone. This zone is left-lateral, strike-slip. It is approximately 40 km long and has a fault production capacity of up to 7. It may show a change in the stress field due to the earthquakes on February 6. Get well soon."
YERLİKAYA: NO NEGATIVE SITUATION EXISTS
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, in a statement made immediately after the earthquake, said, "A 4.5 magnitude earthquake has occurred in Adana Saimbeyli. All teams of AFAD and our relevant institutions have started field surveys regarding the earthquake, which was felt in surrounding provinces. As of now, there is no negative situation. I wish a speedy recovery to our citizens affected by the earthquake. May God protect our country and nation from disasters," he stated.
GOVERNOR: NO NEGATIVITY EXCEPT FOR FALLING ROCKS AND PLASTER FALLING
Governor Yavuz Selim Köşger, in a statement on his social media account, noted that the teams have conducted the necessary surveys in the field and stated: "Apart from small rock falls on the road in the Yardibi neighborhood and plaster falling in a few houses, there is no negative situation. The rocks that fell on the road have been promptly cleared. Get well soon Saimbeyli, may God protect our country from all kinds of disasters."
