The request for the postponement of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's hearings scheduled for this week has been accepted. According to a report by Israel's Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, Netanyahu came to court today for a secret hearing that was not on the agenda.

TWO SENIOR INTELLIGENCE OFFICIALS AT THE HEARING

At the hearing, at Netanyahu's request, the Director of the Israeli foreign intelligence service Mossad, David Barnea, and the head of the Israeli military's Military Intelligence Directorate (AMAN), Shlomi Binder, also attended.

It was reported that the meeting was held to convince the judges who had rejected Netanyahu's request to postpone the hearings twice, following U.S. President Donald Trump's call to close the corruption cases.

NETANYAHU'S HEARINGS THIS WEEK POSTPONED

It was stated that the information presented by Mossad Director Barnea and AMAN Chief Binder convinced the court panel. The court panel announced that "in light of the information presented, they partially accepted the request for postponement, canceling Netanyahu's hearings scheduled for tomorrow and Wednesday, but rejecting the request to cancel the hearings scheduled for next week."

POSTPONEMENT OPTION FOR THE CASE IS BEING CONSIDERED

According to a report by Israel's state television KAN, the intelligence chiefs presented a "strategic intelligence review" to the judges at the request of Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz.

The report stated that government sources indicated that the likelihood of canceling Netanyahu's case was low and that no legal process would be initiated in this direction, thus the option of postponing the case was being considered.

It was recalled that Israeli Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara stated that she would not accept the request for postponement of the trial "until the war is over."

TRUMP HAD REQUESTED THE CANCELLATION OF NETANYAHU'S CORRUPTION CASES

U.S. President Trump, in a post on his Truth Social social media account on June 26, had requested the cancellation of the corruption cases against Netanyahu that have been ongoing since 2019.

Subsequently, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu requested a two-week postponement of his hearings, which was rejected twice.

Trump, who reiterated his support for Netanyahu today, stated that they had provided billions of dollars in aid to Israel, likening what was happening to Netanyahu to a "witch hunt" against himself, and said, "We will not allow this."

NETANYAHU'S CORRUPTION CASES

The then Israeli Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit requested on November 21, 2019, that charges be filed against Netanyahu in three separate corruption cases for "bribery, breach of trust, and abuse of power for personal gain."

Netanyahu, who made history as the "first Israeli Prime Minister" to be tried while in office, had his first hearing on May 24, 2020, at the Jerusalem District Court.

Netanyahu first appeared before a judge at the Tel Aviv District Court on December 10, 2024, to give a statement.

Netanyahu is being tried on charges of bribery, fraud, and abuse of power in three separate corruption cases known as "Case 1000," "Case 2000," and "Case 4000."
