Following the death of 19 out of 65 people who sought medical attention due to the consumption of counterfeit alcohol in Istanbul, an investigation was launched, resulting in the detention of 4 individuals. Aydın A. and Mehmet K., among those detained, were arrested by the court to which they were brought.
As a result of the consumption of counterfeit alcohol, 19 out of 65 people who were admitted to hospitals in Başakşehir, Sarıyer, Fatih, and Kağıthane in Istanbul have died. In connection with the investigation initiated by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 4 people were detained.
2 PEOPLE ARRESTED
Turkmen nationals Agazhan O. and Amangül D., who were detained for allegedly selling some of the counterfeit alcohol in the restaurant they operated, have completed their procedures at the police station. While the two suspects were sent to the Küçükçekmece Courthouse, Aydın A. and Mehmet K., who were captured during the ongoing police operation, were arrested by the court they were brought before.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Of the 65 people who were hospitalized due to poisoning from counterfeit alcohol across Istanbul, 19 could not be saved despite interventions, while 3 were discharged after their treatments.
