A magnitude 5 earthquake that occurred off the coast of Tekirdağ caused panic in Istanbul. Moments were captured on camera when a woman suffering from panic attacks, who experienced great fear in Esenyurt, climbed out of a window and screamed.
An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale occurred at 14:55 off the coast of Marmaraereğlisi in Tekirdağ, in the Sea of Marmara.
Following the earthquake, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that AFAD and relevant institutions have begun fieldwork in the region. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated in a social media post that the scans have been completed and no issues were detected in transportation and communication infrastructure. Tekirdağ Governor Recep Soytürk also indicated that no negative situations were experienced throughout the city.
