Manager Ayşe Barım, who is being tried on the grounds of being one of the planners of the Taksim Gezi Park events, appeared before the judge for the second time. In her case, where she is accused of "aiding an attempt to overthrow the Government of the Republic of Turkey" and faces up to 30 years in prison, an important development occurred yesterday.
HOUSE ARREST AND TRAVEL BAN FOR RELEASE
The court panel, which has been holding Barım in custody since January 27, decided to release her under judicial control and house arrest conditions. According to the decision, Barım's exit from the country has been banned, and the house arrest measure has also begun to be implemented. After the release decision, in which famous figures also testified, Barım was released from prison yesterday evening.
PROSECUTION'S OBJECTION
However, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office objected to the court's release decision and brought the case to a higher court. With the prosecutor's application, a new process has begun in the course of the case.
