Al-Quds Brigades Says It Targets Israeli Cities

10.05.2021 23:42

This comes after deadline set by Palestinian resistance groups for withdrawal of Israeli forces expires.

Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of Islamic Jihad, announced on Monday that it targeted the cities of Tel Aviv and Ashkelon with rockets.

Earlier, the brigades said that it targeted an Israeli military vehicle with a Kornet missile on the border between the Gaza Strip and Israel.

Also on Monday, Abu Ubaida, an Al-Qassam Brigades spokesman said: "Al-Qassam Brigades are now launching a missile strike against the enemy in occupied Jerusalem."

This came after the deadline set by Palestinian resistance groups for withdrawal of Israeli forces from Al-Aqsa and the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied East Jerusalem expired.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army said in a statement that an anti-tank missile fired from the northern Gaza Strip hit a vehicle, injuring an Israeli settler.

The statement said that the injured has been taken to hospital and advised Israelis to refrain from entering the prohibited areas.

Palestinian resistance groups fired about 100 rockets, including seven towards Jerusalem, while the rest of the rockets targeted Ashkelon, Sderot and settlements near Gaza Strip.

Earlier in the day, at least 305 people were injured as Israeli police stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem and attacked Palestinians who were on guard to prevent possible raids by extremist Jews, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.

Tensions have run high in the Sheikh Jarrah area since last week as Israeli settlers swarmed in after an Israeli court ordered the eviction of Palestinian families.

Palestinians protesting in solidarity with the residents of Sheikh Jarrah have been targeted by Israeli forces.

Israel occupied East Jerusalem during the 1967 Arab-Israeli war and annexed the entire city in 1980 – a move that has never been recognized by the international community.
